Kurt Brett

Piano Teacher

My name is Kurt and I’m from the U.K. I’ve been teaching piano and music theory to adults and children of all ages for the last 20 years. I use a holistic approach that develops core musical skills and technique whilst including lots of fun games and activities for children !

I started piano lessons at the age of 9 and eventually went on to study at the London Royal Academy of Music, where I did my music degree in piano performance in 1998. Since I graduated, I’ve been teaching and performing in countries all over the world.

I enjoy playing a wide variety of music by different composers when I get the time to practise but probably my all time favourites are Schumann and Schubert.

My training was very classical and focused on daily technnical drills whilst of course learning all the well-known repertoire from the masters. My approach to teaching is quite different to the way I was taught and what motivates and inspires each student is going to be different.

Ultimately, my aim is to equip my students with the technical and musical skills to explore, improvise, compose and play with other musicians and above all to enjoy what music brings to our lives.
